Common Myths About Prosthodontics

Aug 29 • 1 minute read

There are many myths that surround a prosthodontist and the work he can do. The fact is, they offer a level of service that many dentists can't match and at a much more affordable price. Visiting a prosthodontist can provide you with a variety of benefits that will result in a beautiful smile that won't break your bank account.

Dentists and Prosthodontists Are the Same

Dentists and prosthodontists aren't the same. A prosthodontist attends school for a full two years longer than a dentist and is specially recognized by the American Dental Association for their efforts.

Dentists Can Perform the Same Procedures

Even though a dentist can offer crowns, veneers, and other cosmetic procedures, the training they have received is minimal. A prosthodontist has additional training that allows them to perfect these procedures offering each patient the best dental care possible.

A Fast Dentist Is A Good Dentist

Fast is not always good. A prosthodontist offers specialized treatment that can't be rushed. It's important that they take their time to make sure the job is done right the first time. While dentists may want to keep their patients moving, a prosthodontist takes his time and does what is best for the patient.

Prosthodontists Are Too Expensive

Most prosthodontists fall in line with most dentists in terms of pricing. While some procedures may be more costly, it's because of the level of work that needs to be done and technology required to do. Dental insurance will often cover these procedures if they are deemed a necessity for better health.
