The TouchWhite™ procedure is completed in one visit and does not require impressions or trays.
The process involves pre-treatment and post-treatment photographs. We first isolate the gum tissue to prevent the bleaching gel from contacting the soft tissue. We apply the gel to the teeth and then use the laser to heat the gel for 20 seconds per tooth. The gel is left on for 30 minutes. During the 30 minute treatment time you can check you phone, go to the bathroom, etc. it is not necessary to sit in the chair like bleaching systems that use a LED light source. After 30 minutes, we remove the gel and reapply it and treat the gel with the laser again. The gel works for an additional 30 minutes and then everything is removed. The entire procedure takes a little over an hour.
With the TouchWhite™ procedure there is no direct heating of the underlying tooth. The TouchWhite™ technology uses the laser’s energy to heat the gel making four times more effective than regular beaching gels. There is little to no post treatment sensitivity.
Most patients schedule the TouchWhite™ procedure in conjunction with their 6 month cleaning appointment.
Keep in mind, tooth whitening systems do not work on veneers or crowns.
We do not perform the TouchWhite™ procedure on patients with active cavities or periodontal disease.
